My head's in the clouds
This weekend's work was short but satisfying. I goofed up, however, by not thinking about the lighting in the area. Luckily, the cleaning crew kindly kept the lights on for me till they were done. After that, I used a small clamp on worklight, but while it provided light, it also threw some strange shadowns around. I believe I will see if I can get a key for the lights by the mural. I was excited to see how the clouds would look on my graduated blue background and very happy to see how well everything blended together.
The large cumulus cloud still needs some work; shaping it and add those warm whites that make that type of cloud so beautiful. But I'm delighted with the wispy small clouds. I know I'll need to work on the sky some more in the transition area under the clouds to the ground. Once the clouds are in, I'll work downward, nearing the foreground. Working on the scaffolding is becoming easier every time I paint, but it will also be nice to be done with the high work.
