Cliffside
What a week! I really enjoyed being able to come in every day to paint without tearing down the scaffolding or setting it up again. I was excited to start a fresh area and get as far as possible on the cliffs. Progress was up and down and back up again. They blocked out amazingly quickly, but when I first started to detail them, nothing seemed to work. The next day, though, I went back to my original mantra of careful study, put down what I see and think it through. It worked and I got the bulk of the cliff on the left side done. I painted over the pine tree that was clinging by its roots; I’m not sure if I will put it in later or not. Something to think about as I go on. I ended my week with going back to the right side of the wall and working the slope where the bear is.
Every time I drive away from the school and am sitting at the stop sign, I study the trees across the road, near the drive by the dump. I finally took several photos and played around with them in Photoshop to see if they would work on the slope above the bear and I thought they fit nicely. So, I got a good start on putting them down. I will concentrate on this side on my next visit.
