Platform built!
We took advantage of the school days off between Christmas and New Years and built the platform that the structures will be mounted to. I say we, but really, it was once again, my guys that came through. Bob and Joey picked up all the material and built this in one day! Peter and I came by after work and helped clean up. The photos say it all...
Joey aligning the plumb bob to make sure platform falls within area that will be enclosed with glass.
Once the edge was defined with blue tape, they were able to cut support boards to correct length and angle.
then the "deck" was laid on top and cut to fit.
Here is the finished deck.
They added a kick board to the front and to keep it from being a trip hazard, the guys installed a railing, complete with Wildcat Blue and White rope! What a team I have!
I promised you all photos of the foam that will be used to carve our rock, trees, etc. and here it is.... my stash of craigslist foam, picked up last summer and waiting all this time. Now we will find out if there is enough to build all the elements. Each one of these is 4' X 4' and about 4-6" thick.
I am planning on trying out various cutting and coatings to imitate rock this weekend. I will keep you posted!
